Building Your Warband

The goal of speed leveling is to ensure you only bring 1 unit that needs EXP into battle. This will funnel all of the EXP towards that unit. You will earn both Unit XP and Shared XP, which can be distributed to that solitary unit. Once you have a max-level unit, all the exp they earn turns into Shared EXP. 

"So I should only bring one unit?"

No, that's crazy talk.

Recruit Mercenaries 

Press U, click on Mercenaries, and select an Auxiliary troop to rent for the week. You get to choose a couple of these every week and can use them to fill the additional slots in your warband and try out different units. 

Become a Squire

You can ask a higher-level player to squire you, and they can share an endgame-ready unit with you. You will even earn Bonus XP when doing bandit raids with them, and when you reach level 500, you get a free gold unit selection crate.

Use Shared Units

When you join a house, you will begin seeing a Shared Unit screen where you can borrow one of three random units from your house's Shared Unit pool. You can use up to 3 per day.

Preparing for Battle

With your Mercenary Unit, your Knights unit, and your unit you want to level, you now have a solid warband. Be sure to also check your seasonal unit progression (F5) to ensure you know what challenges you need to progress.

Seasonal Units

Seasonal Units require you to complete challenges to unlock them. Once you turn level 25 you will have the Seasonal Menu available to you via the F5 key. 

You can switch seasons at any time and keep your progress towards the seasonal units you're working on. Simply press F5, click seasonal challenges, then click in the top right on the Icon to open the season menu. You can then swap to any season you like.

I personally recommend all new players start with Blood of the Empire. There are two sections of that season that will give you a ton of Unit XP medals and Skill points that are very vital in the early stages of the game. They also give you two Expansion Permits that we will use later in this guide to help you gather more effectively. 

Once you have completed Challenge 1 and Challenge 2 switch your season to one of the below.

The above units will be crucial to your success in the endgame. As always, this game is ever evolving, and the meta changes season after season. Be sure to check back as I'll be keeping this page updated with the latest changes.
