Offensive Strategies

When you're on offense, the most important number on the battlefield is time. This, in the end, determines if you win or lose. If you decide to push the final point with 1 minute left on the clock, you've already lost the fight.

Territory Wars

In territory wars, you must clear the entire point of all units and heroes to secure the capture. Any hero stepping on the point will cancel the capture.

Those heroes who choose to place Crowd Control (CC) classes should prioritize intercepting heroes from stepping on the point or locking those who do down so they can be removed.

Once the capture point in territory wars is ticking, regardless of how many players stand on it, it will take 1 minute to capture. You do not need to stay on the point once it is captured, but if the enemy can clear the units from it, they can stop the capture by recapturing it themselves. It's always best to leave a unit like camels or a hero on the point as it's being secured to prevent this.

Siege Mode

In sieges, it works differently. In a siege, each person standing on the point makes it tick faster towards victory. If it's only 1 player capturing the point, it will take a full minute to capture. Any hostile player on the final will halt the capture.

Monitoring Unit Counts

In siege mode, there is another important number you should be pressing tab regularly to view. This is the enemy team's total unit count and what units your opposition has on the battlefield. While the unit count will show you if you have the unit advantage or a disadvantage, you can usually course correct with the usage of siege and hero play.

Be Observant

If you see a lot of cavalry, it's time to pull out your pikes; if you see pikes, it's time to pull the shock troops; if you see ranged, it's time to pull the shields; if you see shields and shock troops, it's time to get your cavalry. Pay attention to what units your team and the enemy team has and you can change your loadout to complement the team and give yourself an edge over the opposition.

The Trebuchet

You will experience bad Trebuchet events daily. Many players have no idea how to use them. When to use them or where to use them. In siege battles, every player gains a Trebuchet strike. You can access it by holding the G key down by default. Trebuchets have the ability to turn the tide either in your favor or against it. It does heavy friendly fire and can decimate your team as well as the enemy team.

Here are a few Rules I teach my Squires

Never call a Trebuchet, where you are trying to push

Nothing stops a good deathball like a Trebuchet in the road to victory. This almost always halts perfectly good pushes and turns the tide against you. Anytime you have to stop and wait in a deathball is giving the enemy time to react. Speed is important, and this is like pulling the ebrake.

Always Trebuchet the Ant Trail

Pay attention to the road you travel on the maps to get to the final point. When heroes are constantly rushing back to the final, running ahead of their units, dropping a Trebuchet strike on the reinforcement trail is optimal. It slows their ability to reinforce the final and gives your team an edge.
